Refurbished, recertified, or used — what is the difference?

Recertified means the manufacturer retested it to original specification and issued a new warranty. Seller-refurbished means the reseller tested it and stands behind it themselves. Used means sold as-is. The words are used loosely, so the question that actually matters is who honours the warranty and for how long.
